Ogden/Davis

Davis, Utah

Utah State began offering classes in the Ogden Area in the early 1970s. Classes were primarily job-related courses for employees at Hill Air Force Base (HAFB.) In the early 1980s, a greater variety of classes were made available on HAFB to non-base personnel. Cooperative arrangements with Weber State University were made, providing a broader selection of undergraduate level classes for students.

Early in 1990 USU moved from Hill Air Force Base to occupy an office in Ogden adjacent to the USU County Agricultural Extension Office. With the move from HAFB came a programming change, with the focus moving towards graduate course work offering complete degrees.

Complete degree programs offered in Ogden mostly stress the social sciences, with other degrees offered in Computer Science, Environmental Engineering, and Instructional Technology Education. To avoid duplication of course work with Weber State University, USU has developed a rather specific framework of courses offered in the Ogden area. The Ogden extension site also offers classes via satellite to Hill Air Force Base in Layton and the Davis County Court House in Farmington.

In the past five years over 300 students have received bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, and other certifications and endorsements through the USU Ogden Center.

As of Beginning of July 1999, USU Ogden Center for Graduate Studies has moved to Weber State University's campus, located in Promontory Towers on the East Side ground level.
