Jamie
Nielson
Jamie Nielson is an identical twin born and raised in
Farmington, Utah. She is a senior in Special Education
with an emphasis in early childhood and severe disabilities.
One of Jamie's goals is to enhance self-esteem for people
with disabilities so that they can achieve and sustain
a full, quality way of life. She would like to thank the
Hillyard family for selecting her to receive this scholarship.

Steven Meyrick Memorial Scholarship |
| Established
by Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Meyrick in honor of their son,
Joseph. This scholarship is for a Special Education major
who has a disability or someone with a disability in his/her
family. |

Rachel
Martinez
Rachel presently lives in Salt Lake City, Utah and is
enrolled in the distance education mild/moderate program
directed by Ronda Menlove. She is working full time teaching
children with autism, and also volunteers her time in
after-school programs such as tutoring, and working with
at-risk young women in the inner Salt Lake City area.
Once Rachel completes the requirements for the mild/moderate
endorsement, she plans on furthering her education by
completing the severe/profound endorsement as well as
an endorsement in English as a second language. She would
like to thank Mr. & Mrs. Meyrick for this scholarship.

Lindsay is from Sandy, Utah. She is a Special Education
major with an emphasis in mild/moderate. Lindsay enjoys
being outdoors, playing basketball, reading, and spending

Kathleen
Johnson
Kate is returning to college after taking time out to
raise a family. She is majoring in Special Education with
a mild/moderate emphasis. Kate has been volunteering and
working in schools for the past 17 years. She has been
a Girl Scout leader for 15 years and was the female advisor
for an Explorer Post. Education, formal and informal,
has always been an important part of her life. Working
in special education will give her the opportunity to
serve where it is needed most. |

Suzanne
Landeen
Suzanne will graduate Spring 2001 as a dual major with
an emphasis in early childhood and severe disabilities.
She has worked with people with disabilities for six years
including volunteering in Uganda, Africa. She enjoys hiking,
fishing, volunteering, and spending time with her family.
Suzanne is grateful to the Stucki Family for this scholarship
and to the College of Education for their outstanding
education programs. |

Pin Awards |
| The
"A" Pin Award is in recognition of distinguished academic
excellence at Utah State University. It is one of the
oldest scholarship programs at Utah State and requires
the recipient to have earned 15 hours of straight "A"
grade point average for three consecutive quarters or
two semesters. |
