| Applying for a Background Check |

As a result of a legislative mandate,
there is a new requirement for all students who work with children
in the schools. Prior to all practica and student teaching,
university students must complete a background check application.
If students have previously completed background checks for
other degrees or for employment, they must still complete a
new background check. This is to be done by March 1 in the academic
year prior to completing the special education coursework. Applications
may be obtained in the Teacher Certification Office (Room 103
in the Education Building. Phone number:(435)797-1443). There is a fee for the background
check. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS POLICY. YOU WILL NOT
BE ALLOWED TO COMPLETE YOUR PRACTICA OR STUDENT TEACHING WITHOUT
SUCCESSFUL BACKGROUND CHECK CLEARANCE.
